It could be hours, weeks, months or number of games. Each player who enters the tournament receives a specified number of cards and cannot buy additional cards. The value of playing in a tournament is that each player has the same number of cards and the same chance of winning.  Players usually find that the monetary return on the investment is greater in a tournament.
